Mesquite Gaming Monday announced that renovations at two of its properties will take place this year. The gaming floor and a new race/sports book at the Virgin River Hotel & Casino, and Katherine’s Steakhouse in the CasaBlanca Resort & Casino will undergo improvements in 2024. Both properties are in Mesquite, Nevada, about 77 miles north of Las Vegas.

“These exciting projects further illustrate our commitment to upgrade the quality of these two destination properties for our guests and employees,” said Mesquite Gaming CEO Justin Moore in a statement. Katherine’s Steakhouse’s remodeling will create a new lounge and expanded bar area. New menu offerings also will be added. The new Race & Sports Book at the Virgin River Hotel & Casino will include new 85-inch monitors and a 53-foot wide x 10-foot high video wall. Also, 90 slot machines will be added to the gaming floor.

“Much thought has been given to how we will retain the most popular features that both locations currently offer, while presenting even more enjoyable experiences,” Moore said. The improvements are in addition to previously announced $6 million renovations at CasaBlanca Resort that will include a new center bar, sports bar, and 200 additional slots on the gaming floor. ECL Development, a national firm with extensive gaming industry experience, is handling the project management. Harris Associates, a Las Vegas gaming and hospitality construction company, will serve as the general contracting firm. Steelman Partners, an international architecture and interior design firm, is responsible for the designs at CasaBlanca Resort.

JIVE, a casino architecture firm from Las Vegas, will create the designs at the Virgin River property.
